Regulation

调节

Stress regulation, emotional balance, nervous system regulation, breathing and recovery.

Definition

What Regulation means

Regulation describes how a person moves between activation and calm — how they respond to pressure, how intensely, and how easily they return to a settled state.

Why it matters

Life is not a straight line. The ability to escalate appropriately and then come back down is one of the strongest indicators of sustainable living.

What it includes

  • Stress response and its intensity
  • Emotional range and recovery time
  • Breathing patterns under load
  • Sleep-onset settling and night waking
  • Deliberate practices that help return to calm

How individuals observe it

  • · Notice how long it takes to settle after a stressful conversation.
  • · Observe your breathing when you first feel pressure.
  • · Record which small actions reliably bring you back down.

How practitioners use it

  • · Introduce breathing and downshifting practice before adding load.
  • · Read regulation during a session and adjust in real time.
  • · Use recovery time as the primary review measure.
