Connection

连接

Relationships, family, community, belonging and support networks.

Definition

What Connection means

Connection describes the quality and reliability of a person's relationships: who they can turn to, who relies on them, and where they feel they belong.

Why it matters

People do not regulate, recover or change in isolation. Support is one of the strongest predictors of whether any life practice is sustained.

What it includes

  • Close relationships and family life
  • Friendship and community participation
  • Practical and emotional support available
  • Caring responsibilities and their load
  • Sense of belonging and contribution to others

How individuals observe it

  • · Name the people you could call on a difficult day.
  • · Notice which interactions leave you steadier and which drain you.
  • · Observe how much of your week involves other people at all.

How practitioners use it

  • · Consider support when setting realistic practice expectations.
  • · Respect family and cultural context in every recommendation.
  • · Encourage practice that includes rather than isolates people.
